Design of Peptide Nanoparticles Using Simple Protein Oligomerization Domains
Viruses are naturally formed bionanoparticles ranging in size from about 20 to 150 nm. Remarkably, small viruses are composed of one single protein chain folding into a capsid structure with icosahedral symmetry. The icosahedron is built from 60 asymmetric units and is the largest closed shell in which every subunit is in an identical environment. It is characterized by 2-fold, 3-fold and 5-fol...
متن کامل2D-rectangular c2mm mesoporous silica nanoparticles with tunable elliptical channels and lattice dimensions.
Mesoporous silica nanoparticles with a two-dimensional center-rectangular (plane group c2mm) lattice and coiled elliptical channels have been synthesized; the new synthetic route also allows simple control over the lattice dimensions and the elliptical shape of the channels.
متن کاملShape-specific nanostructured protein mimics from de novo designed chimeric peptides.
Natural proteins self-assemble into highly-ordered nanoscaled architectures to perform specific functions. The intricate functions of proteins have provided great impetus for researchers to develop strategies for designing and engineering synthetic nanostructures as protein mimics. Compared to the success in engineering fibrous protein mimetics, the design of discrete globular protein-like nano...
متن کاملA molecular nanocap activated by superparamagnetic heating for externally stimulated cargo release.
A novel thermoresponsive snaptop for stimulated cargo release from superparamagnetic iron oxide core - mesoporous silica shell nanoparticles based on a [2 + 4] cycloreversion reaction (retro-Diels Alder reaction) is presented. The non-invasive external actuation through alternating magnetic fields makes this material a promising candidate for future applications in externally triggered drug del...
متن کاملPreparation and Characterization of Rifampin Loaded Mesoporous Silica Nanoparticles as a Potential System for Pulmonary Drug Delivery
The goal of this research is to determine the feasibility of loading rifampin into mesoporous silica nanoparticles. Rifampin was selected as a model lipophilic molecule since it is a well-documented and much used anti tuberculosis drug. The mesoporous silica nanoparticles were prepared by using Tetraethyl ortho silicate and cetyltrimethyl ammonium bromide (as surfactant); The prepared nanoparti...
